I've been talking to my parents (~70) for a few weeks about this community. They had NO idea about trans women, had never heard the slur TERF and had no idea about the erasure of lesbians (am lesbian). Obv didn't want to tell them about "girl dick", that's a bit much.

Anyway, to say they were shocked is under-selling it.

They had read an article in the newspaper about "chest feeding" and were so shocked that they thought it must be a prank. I told them about the Sydney rockpools and my Dad particularly was furious.

All of us here are are peaked - how do we reach out to others? Without scaring them off?

I'm in Australia and going to bed soon, so might not be able to reply for a while. Thank you for listening x

I think we start asking a lot of ( obvious to us) questions. And don’t let them fall back to a cult mantra.

Questions like: Chest feeding - such a unscientific term. Chest can mean anything, such as Chest Cold etc. like your rib cage on up to clavicles could be called a chest. Is Breast Cancer going to be called Chest Cancer???? How does that tell you what kind of cancer a woman has? Lung cancer, melanoma, etc? Or breast cancer which is quite specific. Are breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy going to be shamed into saying they have chest cancer????? Oh wait a minute, the men who say they are women aren’t fantasizing about being a woman with breast cancer, now are they?

The term breast cancer also applies to men. My sister knew a girl who's brother recovered from breast cancer. If they attempt to change the language, you can counter that with saying, "Breast cancer is already gender-neutral so why are you attacking only women with breast cancer?"

This is accurate. And male breast cancer is almost always a really bad one.

Saying "breast cancer" is gendered is like saying "eye cancer" is gendered.

Rule 41: Everything is someone's sexual fetish.

Isn't that rule 34? Or is there also rule 41 that I'm unaware of?

[–] diapason 4 points (+4|-0)

Nah, Rule 34 is "If it exists, there is porn of it." Rule 41 is "Everything is someone's sexual fetish." There's huge overlap between the two though TBF

Congratulations!! I think it would be easy for your parents' to talk to their friends and maybe bring up the harms in the most horrific aspects of the TRA cult. Chances are people their age group are less steeped in the TRA dogma and are more willing to critically examine the cult. Good luck!

There should be a medals system for numbers of people we peak. Great work!

Something that almost always works to at least make people think about these issues is to bring up sports. Most people would agree that depending on the sport, males will outcompete females so a separation is necessary. Go from there depending on their reaction :)

Good work! The older generation that hasn't been brainwashed by TRA media gets it. I was describing men in women's locker rooms to my grandma and she asked me to never confront such a man or even publicly protest his actions because "who knows what violence such disturbed people are capable of."

They had read an article in the newspaper about "chest feeding"

This is the one where the TRAs dared one another to come up with something so utterly preposterous that even the most wokemaniacal fools would put their foot down. I mean, seriously, even if a new mom considers herself a guy, guys have breasts, some of them even get breast cancer. No effing way an outfit like NHS is gonna fall for that one!

Ooops. Not preposterous enough.

They might need to know the threats out governments are levelling at us for even speaking against the cult, too. https://archive.vn/cfTnP
