Has anyone seen this show? It has an interesting story of a Hitman that is trying to be an actor and redeem himself. His redemption is seen as futile and he just keeps killing people. Bill Hader is the hitman and it is wierd watching him in this role. What is really annoying though is people love to hate on the main female character--who at the worst is a self absorbed wanna be actor, while they ignore that the lead is literally a murderer who is putting everyone's lives in danger because he has an acting bug.

Once you see it... you see it everywhere.

That Tiger Documentary that suggests a woman might have been involved in the death of her husband, and she's the "villian" - and not Joe Exotic who is in jail for actually trying to have someone killed, not to mention all the horrible things he did.

Harry Potter - People really love to hate Umbridge, and sometimes Bellatrix. Not Voldemort who killed at least 18 people. (I even saw a list that listed Lavender Brown as more worthy of hate then Voldemort... seriously).

I refuse to watch Tiger King, because people that own tigers piss me the hell off, and that should not be seen as cool. I am sure the woman is awful too sense doesn't she also own tigers? Acting like she is somehow more evil is dumb.

I can sort of see why Umbridge is hated more, just because no one has met anyone like Voldermort; while we have all had sadistic teachers. Why would anyone hate Lavender Brown? She was simply annoying.

Yes. Love the show, love NoHo Hank, can't bear to read fan forums. I can think of maybe a couple TV shows or movies in which the male main character's female partner isn't a suffocating nag, or at least perceived that way by audiences.

YEP. What you said--can't read the forums for this show. Idk why I didn't learn, I'm so sorry I ever found out what other people think about Breaking Bad. Skyler should literally be murdered (even the real life actress was bullied by fans???) but Walter 'murder is my go to for problem solving' White is a Good Guy/hero. Did we see the same thing?

UGH. The Breaking Bad fanboys almost ruined the show for me. Skyler is very human and realistic in the way she reacts to learning of her husband's crimes. And she is never hysterical or unreasonable. She's more level-headed than I would have been, honestly. I probably would have wound up dead. But she does what she has to in order to protect herself and her children from the psychopath living with them.

Sorry for the rant. This mentality/narrative around (even strong!!) female characters makes me mad, obviously.

Meh, I've had longer rants, agreed with all. And yes it makes me so mad when it's such obvious sexism, they can't even respect fictional women who's every action is clearly laid out- they're designed to be empathized with because you know exactly what they're thinking + going through. It's all hate for the female characters but the psycho gets all the passes 'because he had reasons'.

I hate it when they make the guy absolutly ridiculous; but likeable, while the woman lead is competent, but does nothing but sigh in exasperation. I am looking at you House.

I came here to say Skyler but yeah, you're right! I've been rewatching House lately and GOD some of the things Cuddy does/says are just pathetic considering that she's meant to RUN THE HOSPITAL!! They throw her under the bus so regularly.

(Also, Chase "wearing down" Cameron by asking her out week after week, yuck).

Cuddy, Cameron, 13, and Amber should have just said fuck this and started their own hospital. Amber could have been House 2.0.

Oof, yes he was egregious. That show and The Office look way different now than they did when they first came out.

I think she is genuinely self-absorbed in the first season and the show encourages us to feel sympathy for Barry, but what I respect about the second season is how they completely turn everything around. We sympathise with the love interest far more, feel genuine fear for her well-being and future with Barry after finding out her history, and Barry becomes unredeemable, even more so than before.
