Christ. A friend was asked to be a kinship placement for a relative’s children from out of state. She had a lot of hoops to jump through. She could only take one though, and one sibling was profoundly disabled, needing 24/7 intense care, that they decided to adopt the children out of the family.
Even though she was a good choice, the entire extended family was so bad (meth, molestation, incest, so much violence) that she knew it was for the best that the children be away from their abusers completely. Sadly, she learned that lesson when a cousin came to visit and sexually abused her children.
